Staff & Leadership
Lead Pastor David K. Young
In February of 1981, I arrived in Westfield with my wife, Lisa, to serve as the church-planting pastor. Over
27 years later, we are still privileged to be here! What a joy it is to experience and witness God’s blessings upon this Body over the years. One does not have to be around here very long to realize that He is still blessing this church today. May all the praise and glory go to Him.
A graduate of Taylor University and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, I have recently completed my Doctorate of Ministry from Trinity.
Lisa and I are the proud parents of three wonderful daughters, Alathea, Bethany, and Linnea, who are nearing completion of their college years. We all invite you to come and get to know our church family.
Pastor Richard Loftus
I joined the staff at WEFC in 2002 and now serve as Pastor of Visitation and Assimilation. I received my
degree from the State University of New York at Morrisville and also received my Biblical training from the Steven’s School of the Bible in Pastoral Administration and Christian Leadership. I came to WEFC with 17 years of previous ministry experience serving in both associate and lead pastor roles. I also spent six years living and serving in Hong Kong and China doing both church planting and missions.
In 2005 I started traveling to China conducting Leadership Training for Pastors and lay leaders within the House Church network two weeks every month. This project ended in 2009 but I still maintain close relationships with many leaders throughout China. Over the years the Lord has placed within me a passion for teaching believers how to mature in their relationship with Jesus Christ and training them up to be Christ-like servant-leaders.
Originally from upstate New York, we moved to New England in 1976. My wife Karen and I have three children, Cory, Jason, and Kelly. We also have six wonderful grandchildren. I love horses and enjoy riding when I have the opportunity.
Pastor Chad Patterson
I was born in San Bernardino, CA, and came to know Christ at age 8. Prior to moving to Massachusetts in 1998, I lived in Georgia, Indiana and California. I earned a degree in Industrial Design at Auburn University in Alabama and worked for Spalding Sports for four years before entering the ministry full-time. I was appointed to serve as Youth Pastor at WEFC in 2000. I am currently enrolled at Moody Bible Institute, working toward a Master of Divinity degree. I enjoy golf, skiing and paintball, and especially teenagers!
My wife, Megan and I live in Westfield with our children,Tyler and Sydney. Our passion is to see young people walking with the Lord and growing in Him. We have many wonderful teenagers here at WEFC and always have room for more.
Pastor John Cruse
My physical life began in the deserts of Phoenix , Arizona and I am blessed to have a family who raised me in the truth and love of God. My spiritual life began at a youth retreat in Tennessee . It was during this retreat that God supernaturally called me out and began moving my life toward Christian ministry. I graduated with a B.A. in Bible and Sacred Music from the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, IL in 2004. I also met my wife, Karine, there. She also graduated with a degree in music from the Institute and now teaches piano.
I was Pastor of Music and Worship for four years at a church in Freeport , IL before God called me to come and serve on staff at Westfield Evangelical Free Church in the beginning of June 2008. I am very excited about the possibilities that are before us here at WEFC and I am eager to follow the call of Christ with this wonderful group of people.
Cheryl St.Onge, Director of Children’s Ministries
I was born in Springfield and moved to Westfield before my freshman year in high school. I always felt I was
a little different from others around me because I wanted more meaning to my lifeand stayed away from so much of the trouble that others kept finding themselves in. In high school I met my husband Doug and then went on to graduate from Westfield State College with a
Business Management degree. I worked in retail management for almost 8 years before I really experienced what Jesus had in store for me. We had been attending a local church that started to draw me closer to God, but it wasn’t until we attended a business seminar with a Sunday worship service that my life finally started to come into focus. Both my husband and I submitted our lives to Christ that very day, and we began attending WEFC in 1999.
Since that time and through the birth of our two girls, Shelby & Megan, God has laid on my heart a desire and a passion to reach out to children through ministry. Through directing Vacation Bible School and assisting with the nurseries and children’s church programs, I knew God was calling me to serve in a greater capacity here at WEFC. In February 2008, I accepted the position as our first Director of Children’s Ministries. It is a position that I love and am excited to have a hand in planning our children’s futures here at WEFC. If you have any ideas on improving our programs or would like to volunteer, please contact me. I would love to add you to our team!
